Montevideo is the capital and largest city of Uruguay. Located in the southern coast of the country, Montevideo concentrates approximately 40% of the Uruguayan population (1.319.108 inhabitants). Travel All flights should be booked arriving and departing from "Aeropuerto Internacional de Carrasco" (MVD). American Airlines has a direct flight Miami-Montevideo. Another useful connection for North Americans is from Panama to Montevideo on Copa Airlines. There are direct flights to Montevideo from Madrid (Air Europa) and Paris (Air France). If you travel via Buenos Aires, ensure that you fly into and out of the international airport at Ezeiza. Most flights to Montevideo from Buenos Aires depart from a domestic downtown airport ("Aeroparque"); crossing the city from one to the other can be quite stressful, so avoid it if possible. Another possibility for travelers who are heading to Montevideo from Buenos Aires is to take the high-speed ferry operated by Buquebus Local Transportation Carrasco International Airport is about 15 km east of the city center, in the suburb of Carrasco in the department of Canelones. By taxi Taxis are available at the airport upon arrival. Estimated price: 60 dollars. By Bus A worker-managed firm (UCOT) operates the line DM1 connecting the airport to Punta Carretas neighborhood, close to the city center and the Faculty of Economics and Administration (see Conference venues). Estimated price: 2 dollars (40 pesos uruguayos). Companies COT, COPSA (lines 700, 701, 703) and CUTCSA (lines C1, C3 y C5) also connect the airport with the city center. Be sure to take the bus in direction to Montevideo. Airport Shuttles There is a service of Airport Shuttles connecting the airport with the city center (price 280 pesos uruguayos; 13 dollars). The keynote lectures will take place at the Faculty of Economics and Administration of the Universidad de la República. The neighborhood of the Faculty is called Parque Rodo. This is close to other neighborhoods such as Cordon, Centro, Palermo, Pocitos and Punta Carretas.

The Faculty is located about 15 minutes from the Centro de Formación de la Cooperación Española. A free transportation service will be available for participants.
Accommodation The participants visiting for the conference will have different options. They will be able to stay at Hotel Plaza Fuerte in Montevideo at a discounted price of $60 per room, per night. The second option is the Hotel Esplendor in Montevideo with a discounted price of $78 per room, per night. We have also made arrangement with a few hostels. Rooms are limited, book immediately.
