Montevideo Official Tourist Guide

Weather

Winter (July) average highs and lows in Montevideo are 14 and 6 °C (57.2 and 42.8 °F).

Travel

All flights should be booked arriving and departing from "Aeropuerto Internacional de Carrasco" (MVD). American Airlines has a direct flight Miami-Montevideo. Another useful connection for North Americans is from Panama to Montevideo on Copa Airlines. There are direct flights to Montevideo from Madrid (Air Europa) and Paris (Air France).

If you travel via Buenos Aires, ensure that you fly into and out of the international airport at Ezeiza. Most flights to Montevideo from Buenos Aires depart from a domestic downtown airport ("Aeroparque"); crossing the city from one to the other can be quite stressful, so avoid it if possible.

Another possibility for travelers who are heading to Montevideo from Buenos Aires is to take the high-speed ferry operated by Buquebus

Local Transportation

Carrasco International Airport is about 15 km east of the city center, in the suburb of Carrasco in the department of Canelones. A travel time of 30 minutes should be allotted to Montevideo city center.  For more information about the airport, please see  http://www.aeropuertodecarrasco.com.uy/en/.
